Overview: Panther Lake at Orange County National is a public 18-hole course in Winter Garden built around the native landscape of Central Florida. The routing combines broad open stretches, lakes, natural vegetation and noticeable movement in the ground, giving the course a more varied look than the flat stereotype of Florida golf. The official championship card reaches 7,269 yards at par 72, while the tee system creates several shorter versions of the same design. Every hole asks for a different decision, and the large-scale setting gives the course a bold, modern identity without losing its connection to the surrounding landscape.
History: Panther Lake was designed in 1997 by Phil Ritson, Isao Aoki and David Harman. It was created as one of the two principal courses at Orange County National Golf Center and became known for a full collection of distinctive holes rather than a small number of isolated showpieces. The facility later developed a tournament profile: the property hosted Korn Ferry Tour qualifying activity before the Orange County National Championship made Panther Lake an official Korn Ferry Tour venue in 2020. The course's long competitive and public life has kept its original design central to the facility's identity.
Did You Know? Orange County National describes Panther Lake as the first course designed with 18 signature holes. The claim reflects the way the routing gives each hole its own visual and strategic personality instead of reserving all of the drama for a single closing stretch.
