Overview: Oceanside Golf & Country Club is a private 18-hole course between the Halifax River and the Atlantic Ocean in Ormond Beach. The club identifies P. F. Seabloom as the original designer, and its current scorecard record lists par 72 with 6,567 yards from the longest tees. The low coastal site and sea breezes support the club's links-style character, while Bobby Weed's work sharpened the strategic playing lines.
History: The original nine holes were completed in 1907 and the second nine in 1908, when the course was known as Ormond Beach Golf Links. The club's history records ownership changes in the late 1940s and early 1950s, a 1963 purchase by the Oceanside Country Club corporation, and a 1993 course renovation focused mainly on drainage. Bobby Weed was hired in 1998 to help plan a longer-term revitalization, later updating irrigation, bunkering, selected holes and practice facilities.
Did You Know? Oceanside has hosted The SALLY, the South Atlantic Women's Amateur Championship, since 1926, and Bobby Weed's project page records a 2021 USGA qualifying event. A course whose highest ground is only about 17 feet above sea level has therefore remained a serious competitive venue for a century.
