Overview: Obihiro Country Club sits in Bisei, on the edge of the Tokachi Plain, where the course looks out toward the Hidaka range and Mount Tsurugi. The current official course page records a 6,673-yard, 18-hole layout played to par 72 from the back tees. It is a woodland layout with enough natural movement to make the ground game interesting, but the setting remains open enough for the wider Tokachi landscape to stay part of the round. Players who plan each approach around lie and angle will get more from the course than those who treat it as a simple distance test.
History: The club's official history begins with a founding committee in 1962 and a provisional nine-hole opening in 1963. The full 18 holes were completed in 1966 as a par-73 course. In 1991, the eighteenth hole changed from par 5 to par 4, bringing the layout to its current par 72. That sequence matters because it separates the club's opening date from the completion and later revision of the course that visitors play today.
Did You Know? The eighteenth hole is the clearest physical trace of the course's history. It was originally a par 5, but the 1991 redesign made it a par 4 and changed the total from 73 to 72. The closing hole therefore carries a small piece of the club's evolution, while the views toward the Tokachi and Hidaka landscapes give the finish a distinctly regional character.
