Overview: Oatlands Golf Club is a private 18-hole parkland course in north-west Sydney, built across about 42 hectares near Oatlands House and Vineyard Creek. Current golf sources describe it as a par 70 championship layout. Mature trees, undulating ground and the creek-edge landscape give the course a settled character, while the urban surroundings keep it close to Sydney's main population centres. Visitor access is club-led rather than open walk-in play.
History: Berk and Audette cleared the heavily timbered site and opened a six-hole course in July 1931 under the Dundas Golf Club name. The course grew to 18 holes by the following year. During World War II the Australian Army commandeered the property, using Oatlands House and parts of the course for military purposes. Control returned in 1947, and a group called Oatlands Golf Club purchased the course in 1958.
Did You Know? The golf course carries a visible wartime layer in its history. The army used the clubhouse as a mess hall and the fairway of the eighth as vehicle parking, causing damage that required later rehabilitation. That unusual interruption is part of what makes Oatlands more than a standard suburban club profile.
