Overview: Oakdale’s Thompson/Homenuik routing is one of three exact 18-hole combinations available across the club’s named nines in North York, Toronto. The original farm setting still shapes the round, with rolling land, tree lines and Black Creek creating the framework for the holes. Stanley Thompson designed the first nines, Robbie Robinson added the third, and Ian Andrew’s restoration work has reopened views and renewed bunkering. Current public sources do not establish one fixed par or yardage for this composite.
History: Oakdale was founded in 1926 by Toronto businessmen who purchased a farm north of the city. The club’s three nines now carry the names Thompson, Knudson and Homenuik, reflecting both architectural and playing histories. Robinson’s 1957 addition completed the three-loop structure, while later restoration aimed to recover Thompson’s broader views and strategic lines. This record keeps the Thompson/Homenuik order exact, rather than describing Oakdale as a single unchanging 18-hole course.
Did You Know? Black Creek runs through the Oakdale property and helps separate the fairways into a sequence of rolling, tree-framed holes. The original farm was described as a relatively barren field with large land rolls, so the character comes from shaping and routing as much as from planting. The three-nine system then lets the club reveal that landscape in different orders.
