Overview: Oakdale’s Knudson/Thompson routing combines two of the Toronto club’s three 18-hole nines. The course sits on the former farm property in North York, where rolling ground, mature parkland and Black Creek create a natural rhythm between holes. Stanley Thompson shaped the original nines, Robbie Robinson added the third in 1957 and Ian Andrew has overseen recent restoration. Because the stored routing is a composite and the club’s public material does not state one fixed par or yardage for it, those fields are left blank.
History: Oakdale was founded in 1926 and has grown from a farm outside the city into an urban golf club surrounded by Toronto. Thompson’s original work remains the architectural foundation, while Robinson’s later nine and Andrew’s restoration add separate layers to the course history. The 2023 and 2026 Canadian Open attention has also brought the club’s three-nine structure to a wider audience. This entry refers specifically to Knudson followed by Thompson.
Did You Know? The Knudson/Thompson order finishes on the nine named for Stanley Thompson, while another Oakdale combination closes on a different loop. That makes the course sequence part of the character, not just a database label. The property’s old agricultural land and Black Creek remain the common thread across all three possible 18-hole routings.
