Overview: The East Course at Oak Tree Country Club is the championship half of Pete Dye's private 36-hole complex in Edmond. It is an exacting par-70 layout of about 7,126 yards, with bunker-strewn ground, humps and hollows around the greens, and water dominating the closing stretch. The first six par fours average roughly 410 yards from the back markers, so the course demands more than tidy positioning: it asks for confident long-iron and approach play before the watery finish arrives.
History: Oak Tree Country Club was developed in 1981 by Joe Walser and Ernie Vossler of Landmark Land Company, with Pete Dye responsible for both championship courses. The East became the club's principal tournament test and has hosted the Oklahoma Open, traditionally one of the state's most important titles. Later renovation work updated the course while keeping Dye's central ideas intact: penal angles, bold ground movement, deep bunkering and water used as a strategic boundary.
Did You Know? Four of the final six holes on the East Course bring water into play, including two distinctive par threes. The finish is therefore not simply a closing run of holes; it is a deliberate concentration of Dye's preferred hazards and decision points.
