Overview: North Jersey Country Club is a private Walter Travis course in Wayne, New Jersey, set on roughly 300 acres of wooded and rolling ground. The 18-hole routing uses the area’s rugged topography, with elevation changes and changing lies providing much of the course’s character.
History: The club began as the Paterson Golf Club in 1895. After purchasing a 327-acre farm in Wayne in 1921, it retained Walter Travis to design the present course, which officially opened on July 29, 1923.
Did You Know? North Jersey’s course was built on terrain that proved more difficult than anticipated, a challenge recorded in the New Jersey golf history of the Travis project.
