Overview: Located within the wind-swept dune landscape of Thy National Park in northwestern Denmark, the North/South course at Nordvestjysk Golfklub is a rugged coastal layout designed by Erik Schnack. Winding through dense pine plantations and rolling, heather-clad dunes, the course plays on a pure sandy subsoil that ensures firm and fast conditions. The narrow fairways, small greens, and strong North Sea winds provide a formidable natural defense that requires strategic discipline on every hole.
History: Founded in 1971 and expanded to its full 18-hole championship North/South layout in 1990, the course was carved out of a protected dune reserve with deep respect for the natural environment. Schnack's routing preserved the natural undulating topography, creating a layout that feels completely integrated into the raw, prehistoric Danish coastal wilderness.
Did You Know? The course is situated immediately adjacent to the cold-water surfing area known as "Cold Hawaii," which is highly popular among windsurfers. Golfers must regularly contend with the same powerful ocean gales that attract elite athletes to this stretch of the Danish coastline.
