Overview: Located near the town of Nokia in southern Finland, the Rock Course at Nokia River Golf is a dramatic 18-hole woodland course designed by Lassi Pekka Tilander. True to its name, the layout is carved through dense pine forests and massive granite outcroppings, featuring significant elevation changes and deep natural ravines. The course demands accurate driving to navigate the narrow, rock-lined corridors and precise approach shots to small, well-defended putting surfaces.
History: Opened in 2016, the Rock Course was added to the existing River Course to establish Nokia River Golf as a premier 36-hole facility. Tilander utilized dynamite and extensive rock-blasting to route the holes through the rugged Finnish wilderness, creating a highly strategic and visually intimidating championship layout.
Did You Know? The course features several spectacular holes where massive, exposed granite walls border the fairways and greens. On the signature par-3 holes, players must carry their tee shots over deep rocky chasms to reach the putting surfaces, providing a uniquely rugged Finnish golf experience.
