Overview: Nicklaus North Golf Course occupies a gentle valley floor just minutes from Whistler Village, with snowcapped peaks, Green Lake and mature firs supplying the setting. Jack Nicklaus designed the 18-hole, par-71 course to make the most of that open valley, and Nicklaus Design lists 6,925 yards from the championship tees. The layout combines mountain scenery with the more precise demands of water, bunkers, fairway position and changing shot angles.
History: Nicklaus North opened in 1996 and became one of the rare courses to carry Jack Nicklaus’s name as part of its identity. The club’s own history notes that the course has hosted the Skins Game and Shell’s Wonderful World of Golf, bringing major names and television attention to the Whistler valley. It remains a visitor course with a resort-town location, rather than a private club hidden behind a membership gate.
Did You Know? Nicklaus North’s 17th is known as the Bear’s Ace, a hole whose water hazard and green-side strategy are frequently singled out in Whistler golf material. The course is also reachable by floatplane, with the club’s Green Lake setting providing an unusually direct arrival option. Tee times, seasonal opening and current rates should still be confirmed directly before a trip.
