Overview: New Sierra Golf is the current 18-hole course at Balsicas in the Murcia region, set in open agricultural country a short distance from the Mar Menor. The current course combines wide fairways, Bermuda grass, reshaped bunkers and renewed greens with a relatively open landscape, so the wind and the position of hazards remain visible throughout the round. The Spanish Golf Federation scorecard lists 6,818 metres from the longest tees, approximately 7,454 yards, and par 72. Moorstyle España SL is credited in the course material as working with Surtec and GTM. The layout is broad and readable, but its length makes accurate club selection important.
History: The club federation record dates the Sierra Golf facility to 2009, while regional tourism describes the first operating configuration as a nine-hole course inaugurated in 2016. The course expanded to 18 holes in September 2023, which is the year retained here for the current ranked configuration. That distinction explains why older directories show only nine holes and shorter totals. The present New Sierra identity is therefore the result of a staged development rather than a wholly new site.
Did You Know? The official scorecard's front nine measures 3,330 metres and the back nine 3,488 metres from the longest tees. The back nine is therefore the longer half by 158 metres. That split helps explain why the full course can seem gentle in its open setting while still becoming a substantial test over the final nine holes.
