Overview: Neath Golf Club is a hilltop heathland course at Cadoxton above the Neath Valley. The par 72 layout measures about 6,619 yards and uses heather, gorse, dry stone walls, undulating greens and changing wind directions. The elevated setting gives many holes a broad view across the surrounding hills while keeping the course's main challenge in shot placement and accuracy.
History: Neath Golf Club was founded at Cadoxton in 1934, with James Braid responsible for the 18-hole layout. The course was planned around the natural plateau and its steep changes in level, giving the club a distinctly Welsh heathland identity. Later generations have maintained the original character rather than replacing the landforms with a flatter, more uniform design.
Did You Know? The fifteenth hole drops from one side of a large rock to a fairway about 80 feet below. The elevated tee creates one of the course's clearest changes in scale and makes the surrounding Neath Valley part of the shot itself.
