Overview: Navatanee Golf Course is an exclusive private club in Bangkok, created when Robert Trent Jones Jr. transformed former paddy fields into a 6,902-yard championship layout. The course plays to par 72 and combines mature trees, rosewood, bougainvillea, water and carefully framed fairways. Its design is intended to challenge professional golfers without making a round uninteresting for less accomplished players, and the current club material still presents the course as a demanding but enjoyable parkland test close to central Bangkok.
History: Navatanee was built in 1973 specifically to host the 23rd World Cup of Golf, held in Thailand in 1975. The American team of Johnny Miller and Lou Graham won the event, giving the new course an immediate place in international golf history. Navatanee later hosted Thailand’s National Open in 1999 and was ranked among the leading courses in mainland Thailand by Golf Digest that year. The club remains private, so its history is inseparable from its role as a championship venue rather than a conventional daily-fee resort.
Did You Know? The sixth hole is a 445-yard par four with water along the left side and another lake guarding the green in a reverse-S shape. The hole is the course’s clearest strategic signature: the ideal line is demanding from the tee, and a safe-looking approach can still leave water in play all the way to the putting surface.
