Overview: Kranji Sanctuary is an 18-hole Gary Player design in the north-west of Singapore, set beside Kranji Reservoir and close to the Sungei Buloh Nature Reserve. The selected black-tee reference is par 72 and 6,428 yards. Its identity comes from the relationship between golf and the surrounding habitat: open fairways are balanced by water, planted margins and views that feel notably removed from the city. The course offers a different Singapore experience from the airport and downtown clubs, with the landscape and wildlife corridor shaping the atmosphere as much as the scorecard does.
History: The course was developed in stages, with its first nine opening in 2004 and the full 18-hole Kranji Sanctuary course officially opening in 2005. Gary Player’s design was part of NSRCC’s wider mission to provide golf and recreation for national servicemen and their families. Subsequent renovation work has kept the identity current while retaining the reservoir-edge setting. The exact directory match is Kranji Sanctuary at Neo Tiew Lane 3, distinct from NSRCC’s Changi and smaller executive golf facilities.
Did You Know? Kranji was developed with explicit attention to the habitat of local wildlife and migratory species. The official club description places it only a short distance from the Sungei Buloh Nature Reserve, so the course’s sanctuary name is more than a marketing flourish. Water and greenery are not just decorative hazards here: they are part of a broader ecological setting that gives the round a character rarely found in a densely developed city-state.
