Overview: The National Golf Resort occupies the Danė River valley near Klaipėda, where wetlands, open grassland and water channels shape an 18-hole championship course by David Krause. The resort’s clubhouse sits above the 9th and 18th greens, giving the finishing stretch a strong visual presence. The layout mixes broad fairway corridors with river crossings, ponds and changing ground, so the best route is rarely just a matter of distance. Wildlife is part of the setting, and the course’s coastal-region landscape gives it a spacious, natural character that stands apart from a conventional inland resort.
History: National Golf Resort was conceived as Western Lithuania’s first golf resort, with the course project dated to 2008 by the European Institute of Golf Course Architects. The resort’s own history records its official opening in 2009, when the project began serving both local golfers and golf tourism. Arūnas Kuraitis is identified by the resort as the original visionary behind the development, and James Arnold joined the project in 2014 as a consultant before becoming a partner. The facility has continued to combine the main 18-hole course with practice facilities and a three-hole executive course.
Did You Know? The 18th green is shaped like a map of Lithuania, turning the final hole into a national signature. The official course description also lists eagles, swans, storks, foxes and lynx among the wildlife associated with the Danė valley. From the clubhouse hill, players can look back across both the 9th and 18th greens, making the closing holes feel connected to the wider resort landscape rather than isolated from it.
