Overview: Narooma Golf Club is a spectacular coastal layout situated in Narooma on the south coast of New South Wales. Originally opened in 1930 and expanded by architect John Spencer in 1980, the course features a dramatic split design: the front nine plays along rugged clifftops overlooking the Pacific Ocean, while the back nine meanders through tranquil lake-adjacent forest.
History: The club was formed in 1930 with a modest community course. In 1980, John Spencer designed a major expansion that routed the holes across the cliff edges, creating one of the most photographed golf courses in the country. The design utilizes the coastal elements and the natural contours of the hills.
Did You Know? The famous par-three third hole, known as "Hogan's Hole," requires players to tee off from one clifftop to another, carrying their shot entirely over a churning ocean cove to a green guarded by steep banks.
