Overview: Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club was the former 18-hole resort course at 851 Gulf Shore Boulevard North in Old Naples. Its last documented configuration measured 6,921 yards at par 71 after a 2016 restoration led by John Sanford, with the compact seaside property using water, coquina and carefully shifted corridors to fit a full course and practice range. The golf course closed permanently on May 30, 2021, and is not currently available for play.
History: Sources place the original layout in 1929 and the first 18-hole operation in 1931. After wartime closure in 1942, Naples developer Henry B. Watkins retained Mark Mahannah to reclaim the course. Sanford Golf Design later undertook the 2016 restoration, while the former hotel property was sold for redevelopment as Naples Beach Club, a Four Seasons resort.
Did You Know? The course stood out in Naples as one of the few non-private golf experiences in a market dominated by private clubs. Its wartime closure was directly tied to the collapse of resort golf after Pearl Harbor, and most of the equipment was sold before the course was reclaimed after World War II.
