Overview: Naha Golf Club is a coastal championship course situated on the southern tip of Okinawa Island. The layout is routed across hilly limestone terrain and is exposed to strong winds from the Pacific Ocean. The course features narrow fairways, strategic water hazards, and elevated greens protected by deep bunkers, offering a demanding test of ball-striking.
History: Opened in 1975, the course was designed under the supervision of Kotaro Inoue. It has hosted several major professional tournaments, including the Japan Open, earning a reputation as one of the most challenging venues in the region due to its exposure to the maritime elements.
Did You Know? The course is built on a coral limestone foundation, which provides excellent natural drainage. However, the rocky terrain required extensive soil importing during construction to create the lush turf that covers the fairways today.
