Overview: Mystic Dunes Golf Club is a public Gary Koch course in Celebration, near Orlando. The 18-hole layout is recorded at par 72 and 7,012 yards from the back tees, with 80-foot elevation changes, rolling sand dunes, oak and cypress forests and wetlands creating a setting unlike the flat parkland courses common in central Florida. The front nine has links-style features, while the back nine has a Low-country character.
History: Mystic Dunes is associated with the late-1990s development of the Celebration resort area. Current industry records list 1999 as the build or opening year, while another course directory says play began in 2001, so 1999 is stored with the discrepancy documented. A multi-million-dollar renovation was reported in 2023, retaining Koch's two-landscape concept.
Did You Know? The official course tour describes the sixth as a short but strategic par five with a two-tiered green separated by a slope of more than six feet. That green complex is one reason the course's architectural identity is about angles and elevation, not just the headline yardage.
