Overview: At Myrtlewood, PineHills is an Arthur Hills design in central Myrtle Beach with 18 holes. The par-72 course measures 6,640 yards and uses mounding, carefully placed bunkers, water and tree-lined fairways to create a player-friendly but accuracy-led round. Its routing is close to the city's entertainment district while still offering enough vegetation and shaped ground to provide a distinct golf setting.
History: PineHills opened in 1966 as the first course at Myrtlewood, which became the Grand Strand's first multi-course golf property. The course was originally known as The Pines and was renamed PineHills in 1993, when Arthur Hills redesigned it. The updated routing follows the predecessor's general path but uses new mounding and hazards to produce a different strategic experience.
Did You Know? PineHills is Arthur Hills's only design along the Grand Strand. The course's identity therefore rests on a specific architectural signature: the fairway shapes and green surrounds use mounding and approach angles to make a moderate-length course ask precise questions rather than simply demand power.
