Overview: The Dunes Course at Monterey Peninsula Country Club meanders across the dramatic shoreline of Pebble Beach, California. The layout showcases a classic layout that transitions from dense pine forest to open coastal dunes, offering expansive views of the Pacific Ocean. Fazio Design renovated the routing in 2016, reviving the subtle contours of the greens and creating strategic angles off the tee that require careful navigation through sandy blowouts.
History: Designed by Seth Raynor in 1925, the course was completed by Robert Hunter after Raynor passed away before the grand opening in 1926. The layout was later modified by Rees Jones in 1998. In 2016, Jackson-Kahn Design restored the golden age features of the course, restoring Raynor's signature template holes and native dune areas.
Did You Know? The club was originally conceived by Samuel F.B. Morse as a more accessible option for local residents compared to the neighboring Pebble Beach Golf Links. Today, the Dunes Course shares its home with the Shore Course, making it one of the few private clubs to boast two layouts ranked among the best in the United States.
