Overview: Mountain Shadow Golf Club is an 18-hole Ronald Fream design in Chonburi that uses tree-lined corridors, gently undulating ground and water hazards to create a compact but tactical round. The selected back-tee reference is 6,984 yards at par 72, although current sources publish different tee measurements. The fairways can look inviting from the tee, yet many landing areas narrow beside trees or water, and the approach is often made more difficult by fast greens. It is the kind of course where a controlled drive and a thoughtful second shot usually outperform an aggressive line that brings the surrounding hazards into play.
History: Mountain Shadow opened in 1993 and is associated with American architect Ronald Fream, whose work is also represented elsewhere in the region. The layout has retained the character of a mature parkland course: established trees define the corridors, while natural changes in elevation provide much of the hole-to-hole movement. The current match is the club on Saensuk-Bangpra Road in Chonburi. Because published scorecards use different tee configurations, the course’s exact total should be read together with the selected tees rather than treated as a single universal yardage.
Did You Know? The 14th is a 407-yard par four from the detailed back-tee scorecard, with a long approach corridor that places a premium on shaping the second shot. The hole’s combination of length, trees and a quick putting surface gives it a distinct architectural role in the round: it interrupts the easier-looking rhythm of the middle holes and asks players to commit to a line before they can see a comfortable recovery. It is a useful example of how Mountain Shadow turns moderate terrain into strategic pressure.
