Overview: Mount Dora Golf Club is an 18-hole public parkland course at 1100 South Highland Street in Mount Dora. The current scorecard lists par 70 and 5,719 yards from the blue tees, with varied elevation producing both uphill and downhill lies on a compact 88-acre site. It is a short course by modern championship standards, but the changing ground keeps the round varied.
History: Mount Dora Golf Club began as a planned nine-hole course in the mid-1940s, with the first ball played on December 15, 1946. Harold Paddock designed the added nine holes when expansion began in 1958, and the complete 18-hole course was finished in 1959. The course was also known as Hilltop Golf Course during the 1950s and remains part of Mount Dora's public golf history.
Did You Know? Several holes from the original nine-hole routing are still incorporated into the modern course. That continuity lets a player on the current 18-hole layout trace parts of the club's earliest design history while playing the blue tees at 5,719 yards.
