Overview: Montgomerie Links Golf Club occupies the sandy coastal landscape between Da Nang and Hoi An, where Colin Montgomerie’s design uses the natural movement of the ground to create a links-style round. The current course record lists 18 holes, par 72 and 7,090 yards. Its fairways are shaped by dunes, native vegetation and broad landing areas, but the generous scale does not remove the need for thought. Each hole offers a different balance of risk and reward, with the best route often depending on how well a player reads the ground before choosing a target.
History: The course opened in 2008 as one of the first major layouts on Vietnam’s Central Coast. The club’s own account describes it as the first golf course on this stretch of coast and presents the project as a foundation for the region’s later Golf Coast identity. Montgomerie’s name remains central to the routing, not as a decorative association but as the design language of a course that deliberately works with the existing sandy terrain.
Did You Know? The course’s natural sandy ground is the reason the club presents Montgomerie Links as a links-style design rather than a conventional parkland layout. Dunes and native vegetation influence the way a ball sits and releases, while the wind can alter the safest angle into a green. The same landscape gives each hole its own visual frame without requiring a different artificial feature on every tee.
