Overview: Monterra is the 18-hole resort course at Blue Mountain near Collingwood, Ontario. Thomas McBroom Associates designed a layout with rolling bentgrass fairways, elevated tee shots, ravines, creeks, lakes and 86 bunkers. The current scorecard lists par 72 and 6,541 yards from the black tees. Its terrain sits between the escarpment and the resort village, so the course can feel both like a mountain round and a carefully managed resort parkland course. The exact directory routing is Monterra, not Blue Mountain Golf & Country Club.
History: Monterra was developed as part of the Blue Mountain Resort golf destination and is now integrated with the village’s broader accommodation and recreation offer. The current operator’s course materials support Thomas McBroom’s design, the par and the tee yardage, while the older scorecard record supplies the same architectural identity. No definitive opening year was found in the current sources reviewed, so that field is left blank rather than borrowing the 1964 date from the separate Blue Mountain Golf & Country Club.
Did You Know? Monterra’s 86 bunkers are only one part of its construction story. The course also uses seven lakes and ponds, ravines and elevated tees to make the preferred line change from hole to hole. The 301-yard fifth is a par four with water short right and forest left, a compact example of how the resort layout turns a short hole into a decision about angle and risk.
