Overview: The East/South routing at Monterey Country Club combines two of the Palm Desert club’s 27 holes. Ted Robinson’s desert design produces a par-71 combination of about 6,005 yards, with palms, lakes, mountain views and distinct nine-hole personalities making the named routing more important than the club name alone.
History: Monterey Country Club maintains three nines, East, South and West, so its 18-hole combinations are route-specific. The club attributes the layouts to Ted Robinson and publishes the East and South nines as par 35 and par 36 respectively. Together they form the East/South scorecard represented here.
Did You Know? The East/South card is assembled from a par-35 nine and a par-36 nine. That simple split explains the combination’s par 71 and shows why a 27-hole club should not be represented by a single generic yardage or par value.
