Overview: Miyoshi Country Club's West Course is the larger and more demanding of the club's two 18-hole routings, reaching 7,335 yards from the back tees at par 72. The official course data places it in a woodland setting and lists one bentgrass green per hole. Its length is only the starting point. The two nines total almost evenly, while the forested corridors and changing approach angles make a good drive valuable for the next shot rather than simply for the distance it covers. The West offers a broad championship scale without losing the quieter feeling of a course set into mature landscape.
History: The West Course dates from Miyoshi's opening on 21 May 1961 and is credited to J.E. Crane. The club developed East and West as separate 18-hole courses on a 1,750,000-square-metre property, giving the facility a rare amount of room to preserve woodland between holes. Current official material still publishes the West as one canonical routing, so the directory's Left suffix is kept only as a matching label, not treated as evidence of a second independent course.
Did You Know? The official West scorecard recommends holes 7 and 17 for driving contests, while holes 5 and 16 are the suggested nearest-the-pin holes. The West also carries a 76.7 men's course rating from the back tees, a number that reflects the combination of 7,335 yards, forest corridors and the precision required to approach its single bentgrass greens.
