Overview: Miyako Golf Club takes its character from the land. It moves through the hills around Tsuru with a balanced 6,738-yard par-72 route, where the tree lines and moderate elevation changes keep the target in view without making the round feel flat. Its course data identifies the design department of Taiyo Ryokka as the architect.
History: The facility took its present form in 1993. Miyako opened on 1 August 1993. The course was developed as a traditional Japanese hillside layout, and the surviving profile records a substantial 1.34-million-square-metre property. The combination of broad land, wooded edges and a conventional two-nine structure gives it a clear regional identity.
Did You Know? The scorecard gives the course a 72.6 rating from the regular tees and a 73.7 rating from the back tees. Those numbers are a quiet clue that the apparently moderate length is accompanied by enough terrain and positioning demands to make the round more exacting than it first appears. The large 1.34-million-square-metre property helps explain why Miyako can keep a traditional hillside character while still offering a broad, complete round.
