Overview: Mission Valley Country Club is an 18-hole private parkland course in Nokomis, Florida. David Wallace routed the course across a lake-dotted parcel of more than 200 acres, placing greens and tees close enough together to make the layout notably walkable. The longest current FSGA-rated tee set measures 6,654 yards at par 72.
History: Four founders created Mission Valley in 1967 after deciding to build a club of their own. Wallace designed the original course, and the club later renovated the clubhouse in 2006 and the course in 2018. That golf renovation introduced TifTuff Bermuda fairways, enlarged TifEagle greens, new tees, repositioned bunkers and expanded lakes.
Did You Know? Mission Valley's layout was designed with greens and tees in close proximity, so the club describes it as walking friendly. The 2018 work also used the Better Billy Bunker system in the upgraded bunkers, combining a traditional parkland setting with modern drainage construction.
