Overview: Mirabel Golf Club is a private Tom Fazio course at the base of Pinnacle Peak in North Scottsdale. The desert setting is softened by bentgrass greens, planted corridors and a routing that uses the natural foothills rather than simply drawing straight lines across the Sonoran floor. Fairway width, elevation and green-side shaping create a course that rewards controlled placement.
History: Mirabel opened in 2001 as a Tom Fazio design, with Beau Welling and Jackson Kahn Design associated with the project. The club was developed as a private desert community, so the course and its surrounding landscape were planned together rather than treated as separate elements.
Did You Know? Mirabel is one of several Fazio courses in Arizona, but its setting is distinct because Pinnacle Peak forms the immediate backdrop. The course’s green surfaces are bentgrass, an agronomic choice that requires a very different approach in Scottsdale’s desert climate.
