Overview: Minthis Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-72 course in the hills above Paphos. The current resort lists 5,902 metres, or approximately 6,465 yards, and identifies Donald Steel as the original designer with Mackenzie & Ebert responsible for later renovation work. The route follows natural contours at about 550 metres above sea level, passing olive trees, orchards and the historic monastery. Elevated ground, narrow tree-lined fairways and changing approach angles give the course a character that is more shaped by terrain and vegetation than by manufactured spectacle.
History: Minthis opened in 1994 as a Donald Steel course and was substantially enhanced between 2017 and 2020. The Mackenzie & Ebert work included new greens, renovated green surrounds and a redesigned tenth hole, producing the current version of the layout. The resort’s modern course material continues to separate the original design credit from the later architectural intervention, which is why both names are retained in the profile rather than treating the renovation as a new course.
Did You Know? The fifteenth is Minthis’s signature hole, a par three played to an island green. The opening nine also circles the historic monastery, vineyards, orchards and olive trees, making the course’s cultural and agricultural setting visible during the round. Those details give Minthis a strong sense of place, with the golf route passing through a landscape that predates the modern resort by centuries.
