Overview: Milnerton Golf Club lies between the Atlantic Ocean and the Diep River, just north of central Cape Town. The current 18-hole par 72 course measures about 6,101 metres and combines coastal exposure with Kikuyu fairways, Poa and Bent greens and seven water holes. Wind, open views and the need to choose a safe line around water give the course a character that is different from the sheltered parkland layouts farther inland.
History: Golf began here with a six-hole course founded in 1913. The property evolved through later extensions and design work, with Golf Data associated with the course and Mark Muller credited with the current layout work in 1995. The history is therefore one of gradual development rather than a single modern opening, which helps explain why older references and the current competition scorecard can describe the routing differently.
Did You Know? Milnerton’s 6th hole changes par on competition days. It is normally treated as a short par four but can play as a par five in competition, a small rule that makes the exact scorecard context important when comparing rounds or reading older results from the club.
