Overview: Millvale Golf Course is the 18-hole layout at the highly private Millvale Golf Estate near Koster in South Africa's North West Province. Gary Player created the original nine holes and Tyrone Yates designed the additional nine, producing a course set in bushveld country with wildlife, water and a very different visual rhythm from the country's coastal resort layouts. The target scorecard lists par 72 and 7,436 yards. Fairway bunkering, slick greens and the natural vegetation make position important, while the estate's seclusion is part of the course's identity rather than a marketing afterthought.
History: Millvale began as a nine-hole Gary Player course built for its original owner, Richard Charter, on part of his farm. Tyrone Yates later designed and built a second nine, now regarded as the stronger and longer back nine, turning the property into the full 18-hole course. The layout subsequently hosted the Investec Cup, including the 2016 edition when all 72 holes of the event were played at Millvale. The exact public opening year is not stated consistently in the available sources, so the existing 2005 field is retained without adding a more specific date.
Did You Know? Millvale has been described as having South Africa's only floating tee. The feature is a small but revealing example of how the course uses water and bushveld setting to create memorable shot-making moments within a very private estate.
