Overview: Millbrook’s Remarkables 18 is the original championship course at the Queenstown resort, set in an alpine amphitheatre near Arrowtown. The current course map lists par 71 and 6,259 metres from the black tees. Sir Bob Charles’s design uses the natural basin, schist, streams, trees and mountain horizons to give the round a strong sense of place. It is a resort course with real strategic variety, where elevation, changing lies and the position of hazards influence the route around every green.
History: Sir Bob Charles evaluated the Arrowtown land in 1987 and laid out the first eighteen holes for the Millbrook project. The resort officially opened in 1993 with that 18-hole course in place. Millbrook later expanded its golf offering by combining new and existing nines into additional routings, but the original Charles course is now identified as the Remarkables Course and remains the foundation of the resort’s golf story.
Did You Know? The Millbrook property began as a working wheat farm before becoming a major golf and lifestyle resort. That agricultural origin is still part of the course’s character: the modern fairways occupy a broad natural basin, while the Remarkables range and surrounding schist country provide the visual frame that makes the routing instantly recognisable.
