Overview: Millbrook's Coronet 18 is a par-72 mountain course near Arrowtown, laid out beneath the Remarkables and Coronet Peak. The route combines open valley ground with the Mill Stream, wetlands, rocky canyons and large views across the Wakatipu Basin. Greg Turner and Scott Macpherson use changes in elevation and the contrast between exposed and more enclosed holes to give the course a varied rhythm. The official resort map totals the longest markers at 6,342 metres, approximately 6,939 yards, while the different tee positions allow the same alpine setting to be played with a very different balance of risk and recovery.
History: Millbrook's original 18-hole layout, now known as the Remarkables, dates to 1992. The Coronet project began as a nine-hole addition designed by Greg Turner and Scott Macpherson, with the first nine opening in 2010. A second nine was completed in 2021, creating the full Coronet 18 that opened for the 2022 New Zealand Open. The course therefore belongs to a newer chapter of the resort's history, distinct from the earlier 18-hole layout, even though both use the same dramatic Queenstown-area landscape.
Did You Know? The Coronet 18 is not simply a renamed version of Millbrook's original course. The two courses are separate 18-hole layouts, and the resort's official map records the Coronet routing as par 72 with a 35-par outward side and a 37-par inward side. The Coronet course also made its tournament debut at the New Zealand Open in 2022, shortly after the second nine completed the layout.
