Overview: Mid Pines Inn & Golf Club in Southern Pines is a world-renowned Donald Ross masterpiece that offers a pure and timeless golf experience. The course is a classic Sandhills layout featuring rolling, pine-covered terrain, natural sandy waste areas, and the iconic undulating greens that are Ross's hallmark. It is known for its intimate feel and the fact that the layout remains remarkably faithful to its original 1921 routing.
History: Designed by Donald Ross and opened in 1921, Mid Pines was built to complement the grand Georgian-style inn that still overlooks the final green. In 2013, a masterful restoration by Kyle Franz revitalized the course's original sandy features and green edges, winning national acclaim. It has hosted numerous prestigious events, including the 2002 U.S. Senior Women's Amateur.
Did You Know? Unlike many of its neighbors, Mid Pines has never been fundamentally altered or modernized, allowing golfers to play a course that feels almost exactly as Ross intended it over a century ago.
