Overview: Miami Springs Golf Course is an 18-hole municipal course at the center of the Miami Springs community. The current course record lists par 71 and 6,755 yards from the longest tees. The layout occupies historic open ground with tropical vegetation, broad vistas and the kind of low-lying water landscape that shaped South Florida golf in the 1920s.
History: Construction began in 1922 and the Miami-Hialeah Golf Club opened in 1923. The City of Miami acquired the original nine holes and additional land for a back nine, then hired Langford and Moreau to rework the layout into 18 holes. The course later hosted the Miami Open from 1925 through 1955 and became Dade County's first municipal golf course.
Did You Know? Fresh-water wells and wooden aqueducts installed in the 1920s remain beneath the course property. The site also has an important civil-rights history: the city's preservation record identifies Miami Springs as the first Florida golf course to admit Black golfers, following the challenges to segregated play in the late 1940s.
