Overview: Founded in 1951, Mesaieed Golf Club is one of the oldest and most storied golf clubs in the Middle East. Located in the industrial heart of Mesaieed, Qatar, the 18-hole course is a historic desert "brown" course that was originally hand-built by petroleum workers. The layout features compacted sand fairways and "browns" made of an oil-sand mixture, offering a primal and historically significant version of the game that has been a central social hub for the local community for over seven decades.
Did You Know? The "greens" at Mesaieed are meticulously maintained by flattening and compacting the sand to a mirror-like finish, which requires specific techniques for putting and approach shots. The club remains a private sanctuary for Qatar Petroleum employees and their guests, hosting long-standing competitions like the QP Challenge Trophy and preserving the authentic desert-golf legacy that defined the early days of the sport in the Gulf.
