Overview: Menlo Country Club is a compact, tree-lined Woodside course whose current character comes from a major Kyle Phillips renovation. The course is presented as a strategic parkland layout, with mature vegetation, careful green complexes and a scale that rewards placement over brute force. The modern routing measures about 6,800 yards at par 71.
History: Menlo’s golf history reaches back to the club’s early twentieth-century beginnings and an original course associated with Tom Nicoll. Robert Trent Jones Sr. later redesigned the property, while Kyle Phillips completed an extensive renovation in 2014 that rebuilt 14 holes and redesigned the other four. The current course should therefore be understood as a modern Phillips interpretation of an older club landscape.
Did You Know? Menlo’s present course is not simply a preserved historic layout. Phillips rebuilt 14 holes and reworked the remaining four in 2014, creating a course that connects a 1912 club history with a distinctly modern routing.
