Overview: Medinah No. 2 is Tom Bendelow's second original course at Medinah Country Club, occupying the parkland ground between the club's other historic routings. Course No. 2 is recorded as 18 holes at par 72 and 6,412 yards. Its scale is more compact than the championship No. 3, but the course still carries the distinctive Medinah combination of mature trees, shaped greens and broad Chicago suburban ground. Keeping the No. 2 identity separate matters because its history and scorecard belong to a specific Bendelow course.
History: Medinah's founders commissioned Tom Bendelow to design three courses after the club was established by Chicago Shriners in 1924. Course No. 1 opened in 1925, No. 2 followed in 1926, and No. 3 opened in 1928. The second course was part of the club's original ambition to offer an unusually large golf destination, and it has remained a distinct layout even as Medinah's reputation became most closely associated with No. 3.
Did You Know? The Medinah courses were built in sequence over only a few years: 1925, 1926 and 1928. That rapid expansion explains why the club's three original routings share a common architectural family while retaining different scorecards and identities.
