Overview: MeadowWood Golf Course is an 18-hole public municipal course in Liberty Lake, east of Spokane, designed by Robert Muir Graves. Spokane County's course record gives MeadowWood 6,900 yards at par 72. Its links-style character comes from open ground, deep bluegrass rough, strategically placed trees, bunkers and water features, while the varying tees allow the course to scale for different players. The 148-acre setting gives the layout room to breathe, with the broader landscape balanced by defined landing areas and shaped greens.
History: The land was used for alfalfa, wheat and grass seed before the Schultz family donated 150 acres to Spokane County for a golf course. MeadowWood opened in 1988 as a Robert Muir Graves design and became one of the county's best-known public courses. Golf Digest ranked it among Washington's top ten public courses in 1996. The county continues to operate the course with practice facilities, a pro shop and a restaurant, keeping the original municipal purpose visible.
Did You Know? MeadowWood was built on former agricultural land. Before the golf course, the site supported alfalfa, wheat and grass seed, and the Schultz family's 150-acre donation made the municipal project possible.
