Overview: The Meadows at Mystic Lake is a public course in Prior Lake created from the former Lone Pine Country Club and reshaped for the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community. Garrett Gill and Paul Miller used the existing land, wetlands, native plantings, waterfalls and sculpted features to make a course with a strong visual identity. The routing is modern and expressive, but its best holes remain tied to the natural characteristics of the site. Water and vegetation frame many decisions, while the greens and fairway contours provide the more subtle strategic layer.
History: The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community purchased Lone Pine Country Club in 2002. The course was completely remodeled in 2003 and reopened in late summer 2005 as The Meadows at Mystic Lake. Garrett Gill and Paul Miller, formerly partners at Gill Miller Inc., led the architecture, bringing experience from more than 200 course projects. The redesigned course became part of a larger community development that connected golf, environmental stewardship and the Mystic Lake destination while retaining the property's established golf use.
Did You Know? The course's architects came from a partnership credited with more than 200 golf projects in 33 states. The Meadows is therefore not an isolated design experiment but part of a substantial body of Gill and Miller work across the United States.
