Overview: Mayacoo Lakes is a private 18-hole course in West Palm Beach, created by Jack Nicklaus and Desmond Muirhead. Current design material lists par 72 and 7,100 yards, with slash pines, palms, lakes, and South Florida vegetation framing a strategic parkland layout.
History: The course opened in December 1972 as one of Nicklaus's early designs. Kipp Schulties restored the course to its original design and reopened it in December 2007, giving the club a clear distinction between its original construction and its major restoration.
Did You Know? Mayacoo was Nicklaus's first course design effort and quickly received national attention after opening. That early design role is part of the club's history, while the current scorecard reflects the post-restoration course rather than a purely historical layout.
