Overview: The Old Course at St Pierre is a parkland layout within the St Pierre estate near Chepstow. Mature woodland, rolling fairways and a large lake shape the route, with water becoming especially important around the closing holes. The setting combines broad estate views with a strategic championship test, and the course's 18-hole design asks for careful positioning before the final approach to the lake-side finish.
History: The Championship Old Course opened for play in 1962 and was designed by Frank Pennink and C.K. Cotton. St Pierre later became a tournament venue, hosting the British Masters and the 1996 Solheim Cup. The course's history therefore connects its original parkland design with major professional and international women's golf events.
Did You Know? The 15th and 17th greens sit out towards the lake, creating a distinctive closing stretch in which the water is part of the visual and strategic setting. The two holes are among the clearest reminders that this is a parkland course built around estate water rather than a traditional links coastline.
