Overview: Marin Country Club is a private Novato course in Ignacio Valley, where mature parkland, rolling ground and views toward the surrounding hills create a balanced North Bay setting. Lawrence M. Hughes’s 18-hole design measures about 6,485 yards at par 72, with later work refining rather than erasing the original land-driven character.
History: Lawrence M. Hughes designed Marin Country Club in 1957. John Harbottle III completed a major renovation in 2007, followed by updates associated with Doug Nickels in 2017. The sequence is retained because the current course is the result of an original Hughes plan and later work, not a new independent layout.
Did You Know? Marin has hosted championship golf while remaining rooted in its Ignacio Valley setting. The combination of mature corridors and open hill views gives the course a distinctly North Bay identity, different from the tightly wooded city courses nearer San Francisco.
