Overview: Maridoe Golf Club is a private Steve Smyers and Patrick Andrews design in Carrollton, Texas. The course is built around a large lake and a landscape of billowing grasses, lower forest, prairie and open ground, with the routing repeatedly returning to the water as its visual and strategic anchor. It is a par-72 layout with five tee sets ranging from 5,200 to 7,800 yards, so the course can present a demanding championship test without losing its underlying variety. Smyers and Andrews use the natural character of the site to create changing approach angles and different forms of risk, rather than relying on a single repeated hazard. The course’s strongest quality is its sense of sequence: holes move through several distinct landscape types before reconnecting with the lake and the broad Texas horizon.
History: Maridoe opened on July 15, 2017, after Smyers and Andrews developed the site around its existing landscape and central water feature. The architects’ aim was to create a course that felt native to Texas while offering enough strategic depth for high-level competition. That ambition quickly became part of the club’s identity. Maridoe has hosted Texas Golf Association and USGA events, the Maridoe Invitational and the 2024 LIV Golf Team Championship, giving the relatively young course a substantial competitive history. The club remains member-focused, but its tournament record has made the course an increasingly visible part of Texas golf.
Did You Know? Maridoe’s official golf program lists an in-house caddie operation and a ten-acre practice ground using the same Bermuda turf as the course. The property has also hosted the 2021 U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball Championship.
