Overview: Located south of the coastal city of Mar del Plata, the Cancha Nueva provides a parkland alternative to the club's older, wind-swept links at Playa Grande. The layout features wide fairways lined with mature pine, cypress, and cedar trees, presenting a serene playing environment. The presence of water hazards and larger, modern green complexes demands careful iron play and accurate approach shots to score well.
History: Designed by Ricardo W. Mackinlay, the Cancha Nueva was inaugurated in 1956 to expand the club's facilities and alleviate crowding on the historic Cancha Vieja. Unlike the older seaside links, this inland parkland setting allowed Mackinlay to design a longer course with modern bunkering and water hazards, reflecting the mid-century evolution of Argentine golf architecture.
Did You Know? The Cancha Nueva is situated on a separate property a few kilometers away from the historic Playa Grande clubhouse. It is bordered by hills and forest, which block the strong ocean winds that dominate the older links course.
