Overview: Maple Point Golf Club puts Pete Dye's large-scale design into the hills outside Uenohara. Each hole is given its own visual problem, while the property remains surprisingly open to the surrounding countryside. The current guide totals 7,101 yards at par 72, with a full set of championship and regular tees.
History: Maple Point's documented chronology points to 1994. Maple Point opened in May 1994. The club describes it as a commemorative Pete Dye work, with a routing built around target golf, changing angles and hazards that are meant to be read from the tee rather than discovered only after a poor shot. Its later identity has stayed closely tied to the original Dye design.
Did You Know? The official hole guide gives every hole a different face, and the 18th is deliberately framed as a stage for a late change in fortunes. Dye described it as a hole capable of providing a final drama, which is a concise explanation of the closing strategy. The 18th-hole description is consistent with the broader Dye approach here: the final green is presented as a place where safe and aggressive lines lead to different finishes.
