Overview: Man O' War Golf Course is an 18-hole public Myrtle Beach layout built around an 80-acre lake. Dan Maples designed the par-72 course at 6,967 yards from the back tees, using water to narrow fairways, create forced carries and shape risk-and-reward decisions. The terrain is relatively flat, but the continuous presence of water and the mix of island-style holes give the round a strong identity within the Grand Strand's crowded golf market.
History: Man O' War opened in 1996 as part of the Mystical Golf group of Myrtle Beach courses. Maples's design was developed around the lake rather than adding water as a late decorative feature, and the course has remained open to public play year-round. Different current listings vary on the par notation, but the current course information and scorecard materials used here identify the routing as par 72.
Did You Know? Man O' War is known for consecutive island greens, including the memorable par-four ninth and the island-style finishing sequence described in the course literature. Water is visible from all 18 holes and comes into play on at least a dozen, making the lake the central architectural idea rather than a single signature hazard.
